Stocks Rally Ahead of Thanksgiving Holiday

Markets closed strong on Wednesday as investors headed into the Thanksgiving holiday on a positive note. All three major indexes posted gains, extending recent momentum across Wall Street.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 314.67 points to end the day at 47,427.12, up 0.67%. The S&P 500 gained 46.73 points, closing at 6,812.61 for a 0.69% increase. The Nasdaq Composite led the day’s advances, rising 189.10 points to finish at 23,214.69 — an uptick of 0.82%.

Traders say light trading volume ahead of the holiday and upbeat economic sentiment helped lift stocks. Markets will be closed Thursday in observance of Thanksgiving and will operate on a shortened schedule Friday.
