The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Spreading Thanksgiving Cheer

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) is helping bring the holiday spirit to those in need this Thanksgiving season. Their donation drive, held on Van Buren Street in Indio, provided warm meals to individuals and families just ahead of the holiday. Guests in line were able to enjoy traditional Thanksgiving fare, including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and other holiday essentials.

One recipient shared how much the event meant to them, saying it gave them a “new touch, a new life,” highlighting the personal impact of the nonprofit’s efforts. CVRM food managers emphasized the purpose of the drive: to offer both sustenance and a sense of community, warmth, and holiday spirit. “It’s important that we show our community they are loved, they are special, they mean something, and they are important,” one organizer said.

CVRM expects to serve more than 3,000 meals during the Thanksgiving drive, a part of their ongoing effort to address food insecurity in the Coachella Valley. Current estimates suggest roughly 50,000 residents experience food insecurity in the region, making the nonprofit’s work vital to local families.

Tonight’s event wrapped up successfully, but the mission’s drive will continue tomorrow starting at 2 p.m., giving even more locals the opportunity to enjoy a festive meal and community support. Through these efforts, CVRM hopes to provide not only nourishment but also a sense of belonging and care during the holiday season.
