TSA Offers Guidance on Thanksgiving Foods You Can Fly With

With millions flying during the Thanksgiving weekend, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is sharing guidance on what holiday foods passengers may bring on board or pack in their luggage.

For carry-on bags, passengers can bring baked goods, turkey or ham (frozen, cooked, or uncooked), stuffing, casseroles, cooked macaroni and cheese, fresh fruits and vegetables, candy, and spices.

Some items must go in checked luggage instead — particularly foods in glass containers or cans. Examples include cranberry sauce, gravy, canned fruits and vegetables, and alcohol.

If you’re traveling with holiday meals this year, the TSA urges you to check luggage rules carefully before packing — especially if you’re bringing sauces or canned items.
