Walgreens Recalls 41,000 Bottles of Nasal Spray Over Possible Bacterial Contamination

Walgreens has issued a recall for more than 41,000 bottles of its over-the-counter saline nasal spray with xylitol due to possible bacterial contamination.

The recall involves Walgreens Saline Nasal Spray with Xylitol, with the FDA identifying two affected lots: 71409 and 71861. Consumers are urged to check their medicine cabinets and examine the lot numbers printed on their bottles.

According to the FDA, the nasal spray may contain a type of bacteria commonly found in raw milk. While Walgreens says the recall is being conducted out of an abundance of caution, the company is advising customers to immediately stop using the product.

Those who purchased bottles from the affected lots can return them to any Walgreens location for a full refund, no receipt required.
