Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Serves Thousands Thanksgiving Meals to Families in Need
The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission served a special Thanksgiving dinner Wednesday to families and individuals in the community who are most in need of food assistance during the holiday season. Staff members and volunteers prepared all the traditional favorites, including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and other Thanksgiving fixings.
Leaders at the Rescue Mission say their goal is not only to provide a meal, but also to lift spirits and share a sense of belonging during a time that can feel difficult for those without stable housing or food security.
“What this really says and really does for those who are without and homeless and hurting, it provides a space for them and a meal for them to feel the warmth and the love of the holiday season,” a representative shared. “Even when they don’t have much, we can still provide something for them so they feel that they matter.”
The mission expects to serve more than 3,000 meals to community members throughout the holiday. A second Thanksgiving dinner is scheduled today, taking place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission location in Indio.
The organization invites anyone in need to join them for a warm meal and holiday support.
