Traffic Alert: Cook Street Paving Work to Begin December 1 in Palm Desert
Drivers in Palm Desert should prepare for delays over the next few weeks, as paving work is scheduled to begin on Cook Street as part of the Coachella Valley Water District’s ongoing pipeline construction project. The work is set to start on December 1 and continue through December 16.
Daytime paving will take place Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., creating potential congestion for commuters and residents traveling through the area. In addition, nighttime work is planned from December 10 through December 16 between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m., allowing crews to move the project forward while reducing daytime impacts.
Traffic control measures will be in place, and officials advise drivers to allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes whenever possible. The pipeline improvement effort is designed to strengthen infrastructure and water delivery reliability throughout Palm Desert.
As the holiday season brings more vehicles to local roads, motorists are encouraged to stay alert, follow posted signage, and use caution when traveling through construction zones.
