Plaza Theatre Ready for Grand Reopening Tonight

Final preparations are underway in downtown Palm Springs as the Plaza Theatre gets set to reopen tonight following a major restoration project.

The $34 million renovation began in March 2024, with fundraising efforts dating back to 2019. The newly upgraded venue now features enhanced seating, a rebuilt stage, an improved backstage area, and a state-of-the-art audio system. Despite the modern amenities, the project preserved the theatre’s iconic historic character and classic fixtures that locals and visitors have cherished for decades.

Tonight’s gala celebration will include a special performance from Tony, Grammy, and Emmy award-winning actress and singer Cynthia Erivo, who recently starred in the newly released Wicked For Good. The event is expected to draw a packed house as the community welcomes back one of Palm Springs’ most beloved cultural landmarks.
