Trump Says He’ll Share MRI Results — But Claims He Doesn’t Know What the Scan Examined
President Donald Trump told reporters Sunday that he would permit the release of his recent MRI results — but added that he “has no idea” which part of his body was scanned. The comment came as political pressure mounted for greater transparency surrounding the president’s health.
Asked which body part was examined, Trump said, “It wasn’t the brain, because I took a cognitive test and I aced it,” but otherwise said he did not know the specifics. His remarks followed a prior disclosure that the MRI was part of what the White House described as a “routine yearly checkup” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The White House previously revealed in July that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a vein condition that can cause swelling and impaired blood flow — a fairly common ailment among older adults. A White House spokesperson said the president is “in optimal physical health” and that the MRI was part of a follow-up visit to monitor his condition.
Rep. Tim Walz, reacting to Trump’s admission, questioned how someone could undergo an MRI and not know what body part was examined. Critics argue the administration’s vague explanations and lack of detail fuel speculation and undermine public trust.
As scrutiny grows, Trump’s willingness to allow the MRI results’ release may mollify some concerns — yet his equivocal statements leave unanswered questions about his overall health and transparency.
