What You Need to Know Before You Go at The Start of December
Several road projects and a major sporting event will impact traffic across the valley this week, according to Kris Gunterson, manager of CVAG's CV Sync Traffic Management program.
In Palm Desert, the Coachella Valley Water District's water line project on Cook Street enters its final phase. Daytime paving continues through December 4th, followed by overnight intersection paving from December 10th-15th. Heavy equipment will be present during night work. Motorists should use Washington Street or Portola Avenue as alternates.
Palm Springs contractors are wrapping up Highway 111 improvements with night work on Vista Chino and Gene Autry Trail from December 2nd-10th, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Crews will raise valve covers to road level. Airport travelers should allow extra time or use Ramon Road, Indian Canyon, or Palm Canyon as alternate routes.
The La Quinta Ironman returns Sunday, December 7th, with a modified route contained entirely south of Avenue 52 within city limits. Road closures begin early morning, with most activity complete by 1-2 p.m. "Metered crossings" may allow passage during gaps in the race, but delays can be significant when the main pack passes.
