37th Palm Springs International Film Festival Announces Lineup

The Palm Springs International Film Festival will run January 2-12, 2026, screening 168 films from 72 countries and territories with 53 premieres.

The festival opens January 2 with "Calle Malaga," directed by Maryam Touzani and starring Carmen Maura as an aging woman in Tangier fighting to keep her home. Actor Brian Cox will close the festival January 11 with his directorial debut "Glenrothan," in which he stars with Alan Cumming as estranged brothers reunited in Scotland.

The lineup includes 44 International Feature Film Oscar submissions competing for FIPRESCI awards in categories including Best International Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best First Feature Film, and Best Screenplay.

Expected guests include Oscar Isaac and director Elvira Lind for "King Hamlet," Kim Novak for "Kim Novak's Vertigo," director Paul Feig for "The Housemaid," and Edgar Ramirez for "It Would Be Night in Caracas."

New this year is Gateway Films, a series celebrating influential cinema curated by Diane Kruger, Leonard Maltin, Paul Feig, Therese Hayes, and Udo Kier, featuring "Fire" (India), "In the Mood for Love" (Hong Kong), and "Medea" (Denmark).

The German Focus program showcases nine films including Fatih Akin's "Amrum" and Christian Petzold's "Miroirs No. 3." The historic Plaza Theatre has been added as a venue.

Other programming includes the After Dark genre series, Close-Ups documentary series, World Cinema Now with 31 international films, and Local Spotlight featuring two world premieres from Coachella Valley filmmakers.

Family Day takes place January 11 at the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater with free screenings including "Zootopia 2" and "KPOP Demon Hunters."
