Cal Fire confirms hiker death on La Quinta trail

A hiker has died on a La Quinta trail after an inaccessible rescue, according to Cal Fire.

The incident was reported shortly before 10 a.m., two miles up the Boo Hoff Trail.

Mountain bikers reportedly found the hiker still breathing.

When officials approached the scene with fire crews and the Riverside County Sheriff's aviation unit, the hiker had died shortly after 11 a.m.
