How You Can Help Coachella Valley Families This Giving Tuesday

Today is Giving Tuesday, the global day dedicated to generosity. And here in the Coachella Valley, nonprofits say the need has never been greater.

Local food banks are feeling the strain following recent federal cuts to food assistance programs, leaving many organizations that serve families, seniors, and students with fewer resources and a rising demand for help.

Nonprofits throughout the region report that demand for services is at an all-time high. Food assistance, in particular, has seen a sharp increase in recent months. Food banks and community pantries say more families are lining up for groceries each week — a trend that accelerated after federal reductions to nutrition assistance rolled out earlier this year.

These cuts have left local organizations with fewer supplies and more households relying on their support.

• FIND Food Bank
Accepting non-perishable food items, monetary donations, and volunteers. According to the organization, every dollar donated provides four meals to families in need.

• Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM)
CVRM accepts weekly food and supply donations at its Indio location and continues to serve thousands of residents through its programs.

• FOOD Now Pantry (West Valley)
Serving the western Coachella Valley, FOOD Now distributes roughly one million pounds of food each year and is asking for both food and financial contributions to keep up with demand.

Nonprofits emphasize that every contribution counts — whether it’s a monetary donation, a bag of groceries, or a few hours spent volunteering. As the holiday season approaches and demand increases, local organizations say community support is essential.
