Fatal Collision Claims Life of Cathedral City Man

An 86-year-old Cathedral City man died Thursday morning from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle collision the previous day.

Raymond Johnson was involved in a crash at the intersection of Date Palm Drive and Tachevah Drive on Wednesday, December 3, at around 4:20 p.m. According to officials, first responders arrived at the scene, where they found two vehicles with significant collision damage.

Johnson and the other driver were transported to Desert Regional Medical Center with complaints of pain. Johnson died at the hospital early Thursday morning at 12:58 a.m.

The Cathedral City Traffic Bureau has assumed the investigation. Although several citizens stopped to assist at the scene, investigators have not located anyone who saw the collision occur.
