Pop Quiz: Celebrating Blue Jeans Day, Krampusnacht, and Friday Fun
Thanks for watching and welcome to our Pop Quiz, brought to you by One Coachella Valley. As we head into the weekend, we checked the calendar to see what’s happening today — Friday, December 5, 2025.
It’s Krampusnacht, a traditional celebration on the eve of St. Nicholas Day. Originating in Alpine European folklore, Krampus is a mythical creature known for punishing misbehaving children. While St. Nick rewards the good, Krampus arrives with birch branches to frighten the naughty. Thankfully, most of us learned about Santa — not Krampus — growing up.
Today is also National Bathtub Party Day, inspired by Prohibition-era gatherings where people would secretly enjoy drinks in the bathtub. It’s also National Bartender Appreciation Day, a perfect reminder to show some extra gratitude next time you order a drink.
And we can’t forget National Blue Jeans Day. Denim has become a worldwide cultural staple, and the anchors were sporting blue jeans on air to celebrate — including Manny the Movie Guy, who went full “double denim” with a jean jacket to match.
As part of the Blue Jeans theme, today’s pop quiz highlighted classic music history. We asked viewers to name the Louisiana-based pop singer behind the hit song “Venus in Blue Jeans,” a Billboard Top Ten single from the early 1960s. The answer: Jimmy Clanton, known as the “swamp pop” R&B teenage idol.
More Pop Quiz fun returns Monday — with two questions, thanks to popular demand.
