Three Coachella Valley Cities Host Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremonies Friday
The holiday spirit is alive and well in the Coachella Valley. Tonight, a number of tree lighting ceremonies are taking place, kicking off a weekend of festivities.
La Quinta
The City of La Quinta will hold its ceremony at the Civic Center Campus from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will feature train rides, live performances, artificial snow, and an appearance by Santa Claus.
Indio
Indio's tree lighting ceremony begins at 5 p.m. in downtown Indio at the intersection of Towne Street and Bliss Avenue. The event will include food trucks, a toy giveaway, a free kids zone, and Santa Claus. The celebration runs until 10 p.m.
Palm Springs
Palm Springs will hold its ceremony at Frances Stevens Park starting at 4 p.m. The festivities include an awards ceremony, caroling, children's crafts, and food vendors.
The Festival of Lights Parade is scheduled for Saturday in Palm Springs. We here at NBC Palm Springs will have full coverage of that parade both on air and online starting at 6 p.m. that evening.
All events are free and open to the public.
