Skateboarder Killed in Desert Hot Springs Crash on Dillon Road

A skateboarder was killed near Desert Hot Springs last night after being struck by a vehicle during what investigators describe as an unsafe passing attempt.

The crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. at Dillon Road and Mountain View Road. According to deputies, the driver involved tried to pass a slower-moving vehicle and hit the skateboarder in the roadway. Emergency crews pronounced the victim dead at the scene, and authorities say identification will be released once next of kin are notified.

Officials report that the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated fully with responding officers. Early indications suggest that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the collision.
