Palm Springs Mayor Urges Residents To Weigh In On Desert Mountain View Business Park Before December 8 Deadline

Palm Springs Mayor Ron deHarte is urging residents to speak up about a large proposed industrial development on Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Trust Land near Interstate 10 and State Route 111, stressing that the Palm Springs City Council is not pushing the item through.
The project, called the Desert Mountain View Business Park, would be located on approximately 217 acres at the intersection of Sections 9, 10, 15, and 16 within the City of Palm Springs in Riverside County. The site is bounded by I-10 to the north, SR-111 to the west and south, and Tipton Road to the east. Plans call for four industrial, concrete tilt-up buildings totaling up to 2.85 million square feet, along with truck and vehicle parking, landscaping, internal roadways, stormwater facilities, and utility improvements.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has prepared a Draft Tribal Environmental Impact Statement (TEIS) under its Tribal Environmental Policy Act. The Draft TEIS finds that impacts to aesthetics, mineral resources, recreation, noise and vibration, and water resources would be less than significant. It also concludes that potentially significant impacts to construction air quality, biological and cultural resources, geology and soils, hazards and hazardous materials, land use and planning, public services, transportation and circulation, and utilities and service systems can be reduced to less than significant with mitigation. However, operational air quality impacts are expected to remain significant even with all feasible mitigation, with volatile organic compound and nitrogen oxide emissions exceeding South Coast Air Quality Management District thresholds.
The Draft TEIS is available for public review from October 9, 2025, through December 8, 2025, on the Tribe’s website at https://www.aguacaliente.org/planning-department under “Public Notices” and at the Agua Caliente Tribal Administration Plaza, 5401 Dinah Shore Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264. A public meeting to accept comments on the Draft TEIS will be held Monday, December 1, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Palm Springs Convention Center, Mesquite Room H, 277 N. Avenida Caballeros in Palm Springs.
Mayor deHarte says the most important step residents can take is to submit formal written comments by December 8, 2025. Comments should be directed to Mark Tristan, Associate Planner, Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, 5401 Dinah Shore Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264, or by email at mtristan@aguacaliente-nsn.gov. He also encourages residents to stay informed through the Mayor’s website, city apps, EngagePalmSprings.com, the City Clerk’s office, and the Mayor’s newsletter for ongoing updates.
