Golden Globe Nominations Announced: Top Films and TV Shows of the Year

The Golden Globes are kicking the entertainment world into high gear as nominations were unveiled this week. This year’s lineup blends prestige dramas, genre-bending hits, musical favorites, and powerhouse performances across both film and television.

The awards continue to split films into either drama or musical/comedy categories. Leading the way for Best Motion Picture, Drama, are Frankenstein, Hamnet, It Was Just an Accident, The Secret Agent, Sentimental Value, and Sinners. In the Musical/Comedy category, contenders include Blue Moon, Bugonia, Marty Supreme, No Other Choice, Nouvelle Vague, and One Battle After Another.

Directors such as Ryan Coogler, Paul Thomas Anderson, Guillermo del Toro, Jafar Panahi, Joachim Trier, and Chloe Zhao earned top recognition for their work.

Actors nominated in drama categories include Dwayne Johnson, Jeremy Allen White, Michael B. Jordan, Oscar Isaac, and Wagner Moura, while Timothée Chalamet, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Lee Byung-hun, and Jesse Plemons headline the musical/comedy categories. Renate Reinsve, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lawrence, Eva Victor, Jessie Buckley, and Tessa Thompson are among the standout nominees on the drama side for female performances.

Animated favorites like Zootopia 2 and Elio scored nominations, while major global films such as The Secret Agent and Sirat earned recognition in the non-English language category. Big-budget releases including Avatar: Fire and Ash, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, and Wicked: For Good are highlighted in the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category.

Television remains a fierce battleground, with Severance, The Diplomat, The White Lotus, and Pluribus landing multiple nominations in drama, while The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and Only Murders in the Building dominated comedy categories. Limited series including Adolescence and The Beast in Me also received strong recognition.

The Golden Globes ceremony will be hosted by Nikki Glaser on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
