Jimmy Kimmel Extends ABC Contract, Keeping Late-Night Show on the Air Through 2027

Jimmy Kimmel is set to continue his reign in late-night television after signing a contract extension with Disney-owned ABC. The new deal ensures the long-running show Jimmy Kimmel Live! will remain on the network through May 2027.

Kimmel confirmed the agreement with a characteristically humorous message on social media, joking that he was ready for “another no-talent year.” The beloved host has been a major fixture in Hollywood and the only late-night personality based in Los Angeles, which has made his show a frequent stop for A-list talent over the years.

His continuing presence on ABC follows a period of controversy earlier this year, when the network briefly removed his show from the air after political commentary during a monologue sparked backlash. However, insiders noted that Disney always expected Kimmel to return given his longstanding, positive relationships with the company’s top executives. When the show was temporarily pulled, Hollywood rallied behind him, even organizing a boycott in support of the host.

Kimmel has occasionally hinted at thoughts of retirement, but his continued success and popularity keep him in the spotlight. In addition to his nightly show, he has hosted multiple Academy Awards broadcasts and recently earned an Emmy for hosting the revival of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? on ABC.

As a marquee talent with decades of loyalty to the network, the extension reinforces ABC’s commitment to keeping one of its most recognizable and influential personalities in late-night television for at least another season.
