What You Need to Know Before You Go For The Week of Dec. 8th
It's a new week, which means it's time for Know Before You Go, where we tell you about all the traffic going on throughout the week. Here’s what CV Sync Traffic Manager Kris Gunterson has on the docket so you can prepare to hit the roads.
Palm Desert – Cook Street Night Paving Coachella Valley Water District will complete its water line project with night paving at four intersections on Cook Street on December 10th and 11th. Crews will pave two intersections per night. Avoid the area during nighttime hours and use Washington Street or Portola Avenue as alternates. This marks the final phase of major disruption for the project.
Palm Desert – Gerald Ford Drive Closure Eastbound lanes of Gerald Ford Drive between Cook Street and Paseo del Corazon remain closed through May 2026 for road improvements. Westbound traffic is open, and residents have local access. Eastbound drivers should detour to Frank Sinatra Drive. Access businesses near the freeway via Cook Street.
Palm Springs – Highway 111 Finishing Work Caltrans contractors continue punch list work on the Highway 111 Roadway Project through December 10th, adjusting valve covers on Vista Chino and Gene Autry Trail. Night work is underway with no full closures expected, but use caution around work zones. Alternative routes include Ramon Road, Palm Canyon, and Indian Canyon.
Holiday Safety Reminder: Law enforcement reminds drivers to plan for safe rides home during holiday celebrations. Use rideshare services, taxis, or SunBus instead of driving impaired.
