Federal Judge Orders Release of Ghislaine Maxwell Grand Jury Material

A federal judge has ordered the release of grand jury material related to Ghislaine Maxwell's criminal case. Maxwell, who served as an accomplice to Jeffrey Epstein, was convicted in 2021 of federal sex trafficking charges and is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Tuesday's ruling follows a similar order issued last week by a federal judge in Florida, who mandated the release of grand jury investigations into Epstein conducted in 2005 and 2007. Both decisions stem from legislation passed by Congress last month that requires the Justice Department to release all records related to Epstein.
The releases are part of a broader effort to provide transparency into the investigations surrounding Epstein and his associates. A separate request to unseal grand jury records in New York related to Epstein remains pending before another judge.
Epstein died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide by authorities.
The grand jury materials, typically kept confidential under federal law, are expected to shed additional light on the investigations into the sex trafficking operation that involved multiple victims over several years.
