Kate Hudson to Receive Icon Award at Palm Springs Film Festival

The Palm Springs International Film Awards will honor actress Kate Hudson with the Icon Award, Actress for her performance in "Song Sung Blue" at the ceremony on January 3, 2026, at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
Hudson recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for her role in the Focus Features film, which opens in theaters nationwide on Christmas Day. The movie, directed by Craig Brewer, tells the true story of a couple who form a Neil Diamond tribute band. Hudson stars opposite Hugh Jackman.
"Kate Hudson's turn in Song Sung Blue is deeply moving, bringing warmth, vulnerability, and musical confidence to a role that demands both heart and grit," said Festival Chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi.
Hudson won a Golden Globe and received an Academy Award nomination for her breakthrough role in "Almost Famous." Her notable films include "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," "Bride Wars," and "Deepwater Horizon." She currently stars in the Netflix series "Running Point," which has wrapped its second season.
The Icon Award has previously been given to Glenn Close, Willem Dafoe, Michael Douglas, Robert Duvall, Lady Gaga, Paul Giamatti, Tom Hanks, and Meryl Streep. Several past recipients received Academy Award nominations in their respective years. Hudson joins previously announced honorees including Michael B. Jordan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, and Adam Sandler.
The Palm Springs International Film Festival runs from January 2-12, 2026. The Film Awards ceremony is presented by Kering and sponsored by Entertainment Tonight. For festival information and tickets, visit the Palm Springs International Film Society website.
