Voices for Children Urgently Seeks CASA Volunteers to Support Foster Youth in Coachella Valley

There is a growing call for compassion in the Coachella Valley as Voices for Children searches for more volunteers to become Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) mentors. The nonprofit says too many foster children are facing the system alone when a steady, caring adult could change their lives forever.

Each year, thousands of children in Riverside County are removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. That separation triggers a complex legal process that can feel overwhelming and frightening for a child. CASA volunteers are trained to guide them through court hearings, school changes, and emotional challenges — providing support at a time when it is needed most.

Advocates are assigned to one child or a sibling group at a time. They build trust, help with school needs, and speak up in court for what is best for the youth. Volunteers say the role can be challenging, but rewarding, as they see children gain confidence and form connections with someone who truly cares.

Many foster youth still do not have an advocate. Voices for Children hopes to close that gap by recruiting more volunteers willing to give just a few hours each month. For some children, a CASA may be the only consistent adult in their life — someone to listen, guide, and make sure they are not forgotten.

Anyone interested in helping can learn more and begin training through Voices for Children.
