High-Fiving Gorilla Takes Top Prize at Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards

A gorilla appearing to high-five the camera has captured the grand prize in the annual Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards, beating out thousands of humorous wildlife moments submitted from across the globe.

The winning image was taken by British photographer Mark Meth-Cohn and was selected during what organizers call a record-breaking year for the competition. More than 10,000 entries were submitted from 109 countries, showcasing the comical and heartwarming side of animals in the wild.

Judges narrowed the entries down to 40 finalists before choosing the overall winner and individual category honors. The awards aim to highlight not only creativity and joy in wildlife photography, but also the importance of conservation.

The winning photographs and finalists went on display in London, where they will remain available for the public to view until December 14.
