MODGIRL: Coachella Valley’s Hottest DJ Bringing Big-Venue Energy and Big Heart to the Desert

She’s one of the most in-demand DJs in the Coachella Valley — you’ve heard her on KGAY 106.5, danced to her sets at the biggest venues, and even spotted her on billboards. MODGIRL stopped by our studio to talk about her meteoric rise and why she believes music can change lives.

Every Sunday from 4 to 6 PM, she hosts Tea Dance on KGAY, mixing house and disco — a sound she says brings people together.

“I love all kinds of music,” she shared. “But my heart is with house and disco. All roads meet at disco.”

Her résumé already features major stages, including pre-show performances for Madonna, Janet Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Mariah Carey, Blink-182, and New Kids on the Block. And when Duran Duran performs at Acrisure Arena — she’ll be spinning on her birthday.

A dancer since childhood, music has always been her safe space and her fuel. As a bullied teen, the dance studio became her refuge — an outlet that ultimately shaped her mission today: spreading joy, confidence, and connection through music.

“I can be tired, but the minute I hit play something takes over,” she said. “My goal is to bring positivity and connection — to oneself and to each other.”

Before MODGIRL, she led a successful career in children’s entertainment, including obesity-prevention programs with the Obama administration and music-based educational TV. But during a film project in San Francisco, she realized it was time to chase the passion she once set aside.

“I thought, ‘If I could do it again, I’d be a DJ.’ Then I realized — why don’t I?”

That leap strapped her to what she calls “a rocket ship,” launching a journey that continues to electrify audiences all across our community.

“Music is the great uniter and healer,” she said. “It makes us feel alive.”
