Palm Springs Fire Hosts Holiday Toy Drive Benefiting Local Youth

The season of giving is in full swing at Palm Springs Fire Station No. 2, where firefighters and NBC Palm Springs have spent the day collecting toys for local children. The annual holiday toy drive benefits the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Springs, and donations have been pouring in since early this morning.

“It’s been amazing,” said Fire Engineer and Paramedic Jake Ragsdale, noting how much the community has shown up to support local kids. “This is the season for giving, and no family or child should go without. The support today has been fantastic.”

While unwrapped toys remain the biggest need, Ragsdale added that gift cards for older kids are also greatly appreciated, offering them the chance to pick out something special for themselves.

NBC Palm Springs reporters Olivia Sandusky and Pablo Alsina broadcast live throughout the day, spotlighting the station’s growing collection of toys and the firefighters who make the event possible. Alsina showcased the lighter side of the day, highlighting everything from firefighter hula-hooping skills to a perfectly executed deep-pass touchdown in front of the fire engine—turning the station into a festive, high-energy celebration.

Temperatures in the mid-80s brought an extra dose of sunshine to the event, which continues until 7 p.m. tonight. Firefighters invite residents to stop by, drop off a gift, and help ensure every child at the Boys and Girls Club has something to unwrap this Christmas.

“We just want to make sure these kids feel the joy of the season,” Ragsdale said. “It’s truly incredible to see the community come together like this.”
