Tony Award-Winning 'Moulin Rouge! The Musical' Opens at McCallum Theatre

The national tour of "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" opened Tuesday night at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, with performances scheduled through Sunday.

The production, which won 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, is a stage adaptation of Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film. Tony Award winner Alex Timbers directs the touring show, with a book by Tony Award winner John Logan, choreography by Tony Award winner Sonya Tayeh, and music supervision by Tony Award winner Justin Levine.

Pete Sanders, publicist for the McCallum Theatre, noted that the tour travels with its Tony Awards, which are on display in the theater lobby. "When you see the set and the cast you will be blown away," Sanders said. "It's a Broadway musical hit."

The McCallum Theatre will also host Barry Manilow's "A Gift of Love" concert series from December 16-21.
