Two Hikers Airlifted After Separate Rescues on Coachella Valley Trails

Two hikers were rescued earlier today with minor injuries after separate incidents on popular Coachella Valley trails.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the first rescue was reported just before 10 a.m. at the Pushawalla Palms Trail near Indio. A second rescue was called in shortly before 11:30 a.m. at the Bear Creek Oasis Trail in La Quinta.

Officials say both hikers were reported to be in distress. Each was airlifted from the trail by helicopter and then transported to a hospital by ambulance.

No additional details about the hikers or the circumstances leading to their distress have been released at this time.
