Palm Springs Tennis Club Hosts Shop with a Cop Fundraiser to Support Local Children

The Palm Springs Tennis Club opened its gates today for a meaningful holiday tradition, hosting its annual Shop with a Cop fundraiser to support children in need across the Coachella Valley.

The program pairs underprivileged children with Palm Springs police officers for special holiday shopping trips, allowing each child to choose their own gifts. Every participant receives $200 to help bring their Christmas wish list to life, making the experience both empowering and memorable.

The event kicked off this morning with a police K-9 demonstration led by Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills, adding excitement to the start of the day. Chief Mills emphasized the importance of giving children the freedom to pick out what they want, rather than receiving pre-selected gifts.

Officers and organizers say the program is about more than presents. It’s about connection, dignity, and showing kids that their community cares. The initiative supports children throughout Palm Springs and surrounding areas of the Coachella Valley, with shopping trips scheduled just before Christmas.

Community generosity plays a major role in making Shop with a Cop possible. Organizers say local residents and businesses consistently step up to support the cause, whether through donations, volunteer efforts, or other holiday programs aimed at helping families in need.

For those who weren’t able to attend the fundraiser in person, donations are still being accepted. A phone number displayed during the broadcast allows viewers to contribute and help ensure more children experience a brighter holiday season.
