Rob Reiner and Wife Found Dead at Brentwood Home; LAPD Investigating Homicide

UPDATE (8:35 p.m.): NBC has confirmed that actor and film director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead inside their Brentwood home. Authorities say both suffered stab wounds. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
Police and firefighters were called to the Brentwood residence Sunday afternoon after a medical aid request. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews responded to a home in the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue, between Sunset and San Vicente boulevards, around 3:30 p.m. Once inside, first responders discovered two bodies.
An LAFD spokesperson confirmed the victims were a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman. NBC later confirmed the deceased were Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, 68.
The Los Angeles Police Department says officers responded to the scene around 4:20 p.m., though the nature of the initial emergency call was not disclosed. TMZ reported the victims suffered lacerations consistent with a knife, and that the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division is leading the investigation. Police have not publicly released additional details or announced any arrests.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not identified a suspect or possible motive.
Rob Reiner had a career in Hollywood spanning more than five decades. He first gained national recognition playing Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom All in the Family before becoming one of the industry’s most successful directors. His films include Stand By Me, This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men.
