Experts Urge Safe Gift Choices For Young Children Ahead Of Christmas
Christmas is just ten days away, and experts are urging shoppers to keep safety in mind when buying gifts for young children.
With many families finishing up their holiday shopping, consumer safety specialists say it is important to choose age appropriate toys and gifts. Items should match a child’s developmental level and abilities to help prevent injuries. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to check packaging labels carefully and follow manufacturer age recommendations.
Experts also warn against toys with small parts that could pose choking hazards, especially for infants and toddlers. Loose buttons, batteries, magnets, and small accessories should be avoided. In addition, toys with long strings or cords can increase the risk of strangulation and should be used with caution.
Shoppers are also reminded to look for well made products and avoid toys that are broken, sharp, or easily pulled apart. Electronic toys should be tested to ensure batteries are securely enclosed. Safety experts say taking a few extra minutes to inspect gifts can help make the holiday season both joyful and safe for young children.
