Palm Springs Police Investigate Fatal Hit-and-Run on Highway 111

Palm Springs police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian on State Route 111 Sunday morning.

Officers responded at approximately 10:37 a.m. December 14th, to a report of a deceased individual on the outbound side of SR-111 between Tipton Road and Snow Creek Road. A bicyclist traveling through the area discovered the person on the side of the road and called authorities.

When officers arrived, they confirmed the individual was deceased. Investigators determined the incident was a vehicle versus pedestrian collision, with the driver fleeing the scene before police arrived.

The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The affected section of highway was closed for most of Sunday before reopening later that day.

Police are seeking information about a possible suspect vehicle described as white with front-end or front passenger-side damage, including possible headlight damage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Palm Springs Police Department Traffic Division at (760) 323-8125.
