Coachella Valley Firebirds to Host Annual Teddy Bear Toss to Support Local Kids

The holiday season is in full swing at Acrisure Arena as the Coachella Valley Firebirds host their annual Teddy Bear Toss, a fan-favorite tradition that combines the excitement of ice hockey with giving back to the community.

Fans can drop off teddy bears at the box office during Friday night’s game and for all future home games. The bears will be distributed by emergency services personnel to children experiencing stressful or frightening situations.

“This is an amazing event because it brings the community together right before the holidays,” said Patrick Somers, president and CEO of The General, a key sponsor of the event. “You get action-packed ice hockey on the ice, and then you can toss teddy bears for a great cause.”

Members of the Firebirds Fan Zone, who helped organize the initiative, explained the importance of community involvement. “At the end of the day, it’s for the kids,” said one volunteer. “Emergency providers will have these bears on hand to give comfort to children in stressful situations.”

The event is now in its fourth season, and organizers say fans should feel free to bring as many teddy bears as they can to toss on the ice at Friday night’s puck drop at 7 PM. Tickets are available at cbfirebirds.com.
