La Quinta High School to Dedicate Gymnasium in Honor of Late Wrestling Coach

La Quinta High School will dedicate its gymnasium in memory of the late Wrestling Coach Tom Jenkins on Wednesday evening.

The ceremony will take place at the school's gym, located at 79-750 Avenue 50, immediately following junior varsity boys and girls wrestling matches against Rancho Mirage High School. The dedication is tentatively scheduled for around 5:30 p.m.

Jenkins, who died in 2013 at age 46 after a battle with cancer, left what school officials describe as an enduring legacy on the athletics program and wider school community through his leadership and commitment to student-athletes.

The evening will also feature Alumni Night, inviting former Blackhawks to return to campus to reconnect and support current student-athletes competing in the wrestling matches.
