New 24/7 community-focused gym opens in Palm Desert
PALM DESERT, Calif. — A new chapter in local fitness and community connection began today in Palm Desert as For the Culture Club Fitness officially opened its doors on Joni Drive.
The 24/7 gym is designed to be more than just a workout space. Staff say the facility was built around fostering a positive, inclusive culture where people of all fitness levels feel welcome.
One of the gym’s founders is Jeremy Hellawell, a retired Indio Police Department detective who served the department for more than two decades. Hellawell and his business partner say their goal was to create a gym that breaks down traditional barriers and intimidation often associated with fitness centers.
“We wanted to make sure that we did something that was more focused on the community and highlighted different walks of life,” Hellawell said. “We do everything from bodybuilding to lifestyle fitness, but it’s really about the demographic out here.”
Hellawell added that gym intimidation is a major reason many people hesitate to walk through the door.
“Our biggest focus is giving people who live in this area a place to hang out, meet new people, and really push fitness as part of their lifestyle,” he said.
The facility offers round-the-clock access, onsite personal trainers, and a welcoming environment designed to support beginners and experienced athletes alike.
For the Culture Club Fitness is now open and welcoming Palm Desert residents looking for a supportive space to pursue their health and wellness goals.
