Construction Milestone Brings Morning Delays to South Palm Canyon Drive

If you're heading down South Palm Canyon Drive on Thursday morning, you'll want to build in some extra time. Crews working on the bridge replacement project are hitting a significant milestone—pouring concrete for the western span deck—and the operation will affect traffic starting at 6:30 a.m.

The bridge project has been progressing in phases, with crews building new spans on either side of South Palm Canyon Drive. Thursday's concrete pour represents the completion of the framework for the western side. 

While there's no set completion time for Thursday's work, the city is warning drivers to expect intermittent slowdowns throughout the day as large concrete trucks navigate in and out of the construction zone. 

Traffic controllers will be on hand managing the flow as the heavy equipment moves through, which means you might see brief stops or slower speeds through the work area.
