Kimberly Barraza Elected President of Desert Healthcare District Board

The Desert Healthcare District & Foundation Board passed the gavel to new leadership on Tuesday, Dec. 16, during its final meeting of 2025. Secretary Kimberly Barraza was elected president, succeeding Carole Rogers.
Barraza joined the Board in November 2022 after being elected by Coachella Valley voters to a four-year term. She represents zone six, which includes much of Indio and Coachella, and currently serves on the Program and Strategic Planning committees, while chairing the Legislative Policy Committee. As president, one of her first responsibilities will be appointing Board members to committees.
“I am honored to serve as Board President,” Barraza said, emphasizing transparency, collaboration, equity, and improved health outcomes across the Coachella Valley.
Continuing in leadership roles for 2026 are Greg Rodriguez as vice-president and Dr. Daniel Logsdon as treasurer. Former president Leticia DeLara will serve as secretary. The seven-member Board also includes Carole Rogers and Evett PerezGil, with one vacancy in zone five following a recent resignation.
Applications for the open seat are being accepted through Jan. 5, with interviews and a potential appointment scheduled for Jan. 8. CEO Chris Christensen called the transition “an exciting time” as the District advances its strategic planning and community health priorities for 2026 and beyond.
