Law Enforcement Motorcades to Visit Local Hospitals Today for Operation Holiday Cheer
If you hear sirens near local hospitals today, there's no need for alarm. Nearly 60 law enforcement and fire agencies from across California are fanning out to more than 40 hospitals in a festive display of appreciation for healthcare workers during the holiday season.
Operation Holiday Cheer, now in its fifth year, has grown into a massive statewide effort. Agencies from seven counties—Sacramento, San Benito, San Bernardino, Riverside, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara—will cover more than 28,000 miles throughout the day, bringing lights, sirens, and holiday cheer to hospital parking lots across California.
What You'll See and Hear
The motorcades feature police cars and firetrucks with flashing lights and blaring sirens, along with special guests including Santa Claus and other holiday characters. Officers and firefighters will gather outside hospitals to greet medical staff and wave to patients, creating what organizers describe as a festive show of support for fellow first responders who work through the holidays.
Local Hospital Visits
In the Coachella Valley, the procession will make three stops. Officers will arrive at JFK Memorial Hospital in Indio at 10:30 this morning, followed by Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage at 11:45 AM, then continue to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs at 12:45 this afternoon. The motorcade travels from hospital to hospital throughout the day, bringing a moment of celebration to each location.
This coordinated effort brings together law enforcement from across Riverside County to recognize the sacrifices healthcare professionals make, particularly during the holiday season when many are away from their own families to care for patients.
