Barton CPA Hosts Drive-Through Food Drive to Support LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert
Barton CPA, an accounting firm based in Palm Springs, is spreading holiday cheer through community giving. The firm hosted a drive-through food drive benefiting the LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert and its community food bank, which serves individuals, families, and even pets throughout the Coachella Valley.
The event made donating easy, with drivers pulling up to the curb while staff members collected non-perishable food items directly from their vehicles. Organizers say the goal was to help meet the growing demand for food assistance in the valley, especially during the holiday season.
“I think this year we’ve seen the need of neighbors, people walking down the street — just residents in our valley needing additional assistance,” said Chauncey Thompson with Barton CPA. “You drive by the center’s food pantry weekly and you can see the line wrapped around near the airport. There’s definitely a need in our community, and we want to help.”
Barton CPA says community philanthropy is a top priority for the firm. While this marks their first year hosting a food drive, organizers say the response has been encouraging as demand at the center’s food bank continues to grow.
The LGBTQ Community Center of the Desert relies heavily on donations and community partnerships to support residents facing food insecurity, particularly during the holidays when resources are often stretched thin.
