Holiday Posada brings toys, food, and smiles to hundreds of kids at Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club
The Holiday Posada is underway this evening at the Boys and Girls Club of Cathedral City, bringing holiday joy to hundreds of local children and families.
The annual community event is providing children with holiday presents, warm meals, and a festive atmosphere as the Christmas season approaches. Organizers say the event runs until about 7 to 7:30 p.m., with volunteers working to ensure every child leaves with a gift and a smile.
The Holiday Posada is hosted by the Boys and Girls Club of Cathedral City in collaboration with the Cathedral City Fire Department and the office of Riverside County Supervisor V. Manuel Perez. The partnership brings together first responders, community leaders, volunteers, and families for one of the most anticipated events of the year.
NBC Palm Springs crews were on scene throughout the evening capturing the celebration. Reporter Olivia Sandusky spoke with children like Julian, who proudly showed off his new toy truck and talked about how it works, while also sharing his hope of taking home a teddy bear. Many families also enjoyed traditional holiday food, including pozole and tamales.
Volunteers played a key role in the event, helping children select gifts and guiding families through the festivities. Mateo, one of the volunteers, said he was excited to help kids choose their presents and support the club’s mission during the holidays.
Weather coverage was also provided on site by Pablo Alsina, who noted mild temperatures this weekend with a chance of rain early next week, including on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Organizers say the Holiday Posada is about more than gifts — it’s about bringing the community together and making sure children feel supported and celebrated during the holidays.
