Santa takes to the skies to spread holiday cheer to Coachella Valley health care workers

Health care workers across the Coachella Valley received a special holiday surprise this morning as Santa Claus took to the skies to spread some seasonal cheer.

Instead of arriving in his traditional sleigh, Santa flew overhead aboard a Bell 206 Long Ranger helicopter, making stops above Desert Regional Medical Center, Eisenhower Hospital, and JFK Memorial Hospital. Doctors, nurses, and hospital staff stepped outside for a moment to watch the flyover and enjoy a brief break from their busy shifts.

Many health care workers said the gesture meant a lot, especially during the holiday season. Several shared that the recognition helps lift spirits in a profession that comes with high stress and long hours, particularly for those working through the holidays.

“It’s nice to have the community recognize the hardworking doctors, nurses, and everyone who supports patient care all year long,” one health care worker said. Others echoed the sentiment, noting that even a short moment of joy can make a difference in such a demanding environment.

The Santa flyover is an annual tradition organized by the Palm Springs Air Museum. Each holiday season, the event is designed to honor health care professionals and thank them for their dedication to the community.
