US Troops to Receive $1,776 ‘Warrior Dividend’ Checks Before Christmas, Trump Says

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that US service members will receive $1,776 checks before Christmas as part of what he called a “Warrior Dividend.”

Speaking during a televised address, Trump said approximately 1.45 million military members would receive the one-time payment, which he said honors the nation’s founding in 1776. The payments are expected to reach service members before the holiday.

According to a senior administration official, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directed the Pentagon to distribute roughly $2.6 billion through a one-time Basic Allowance for Housing supplement. The payments will go to eligible service members in pay grades O-6 and below.

The payout will include about 1.28 million active-duty service members and roughly 174,000 reserve members. Officials said Congress previously appropriated $2.9 billion to support housing-related military benefits as part of Trump’s broader policy agenda passed earlier this year.

Trump credited tariff revenue for helping fund the initiative, though he did not provide detailed funding specifics during his remarks.

Administration officials described the payment as part of a broader effort to improve quality of life for military members and their families, particularly amid ongoing housing affordability concerns.

The Treasury Department has been contacted for additional details on when and how payments will be distributed.
