Valley Mom Uses Social Media to Thank Delivery Drivers During the Holidays
The hard work of delivery drivers across the Coachella Valley is getting noticed in a big way this holiday season, thanks to one local mom using social media to give back.
Cindy Light is a cancer survivor and single mother of two teenage daughters who says she turned to social media as a way to better balance work and family life. After spending long hours away from home doing rideshare driving, Light says she wanted a schedule that allowed her to be more present for her kids.
Looking for a simple way to show appreciation, Light began leaving snacks and drinks outside her front door for mail and package delivery drivers. The idea came after realizing just how many packages she had ordered during events like Cyber Monday.
What she didn’t expect was what happened next. After posting a video online, Light says some nearby neighbors took the snacks before drivers arrived. She shared that moment on social media as well — and the post quickly went viral, reaching millions of views.
Since then, Light has continued posting videos of delivery drivers discovering the snack table, capturing their reactions and gratitude. She says seeing how hard these workers hustle, especially during extreme summer heat and the holiday rush, motivates her to keep going.
Now, the tradition has become a family effort. Light says her daughters regularly help restock, organize, and check the snack station. For her, it’s about more than snacks — it’s about teaching generosity.
