An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on 12/19/2025: Future Rain!

We'll be tracking a low pressure system as it makes its way across Northern California dragging a cold front through the Southwest and directing an Atmospheric River of moisture our way over the holidays.
There will be precipitation over most of SoCal between Wednesday and Saturday of next week.
But -- as far as the Coachella Valley is concerned -- it looks like the best shot of witnessing significant rainfall totals will be on Christmas Eve into early-Christmas Day.
The Ensemble Forecast has anywhere between a quarter-of-an-inch to a half-inch of rain falling over the Valley those two days, while NOAA's outlook is much more generous with between a half-inch to an inch total accumulation.
Because this is a warm and wet Pacific system, the snow level for our area mountains will be quite high for December. Most elevated locations will only see rain.
