Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Spreads Holiday Cheer at 20th Annual Toy Giveaway

The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission celebrated a major milestone this morning with its 20th annual toy giveaway, an event dedicated to spreading holiday joy to local children and families in need. After more than a month of planning, volunteers, donors, and staff came together to make the day a success.

“This is something we’ve been working on for over a month, and it’s finally come to fruition today,” one organizer shared. “The Coachella Valley philanthropy community and our donors are just incredible. We’re really excited to see it all come together.”

Throughout the morning, families lined up as children eagerly explored rooms filled with toys of all kinds. Laughter, excitement, and surprise echoed as kids clutched their tickets and made their selections. For many volunteers, the experience is the highlight of the Christmas season.

“This is the best thing I do during the holidays,” a volunteer said. “It’s about giving to others and seeing the joy on the faces of children who may be less fortunate.”

For some families, the event carried special meaning. One parent shared that they attended the toy giveaway as a child and now return with their own kids. “It’s kind of full circle,” they said. “It’s a very sweet thing to do around this time of year.”

Children proudly showed off their picks, from toy jeeps to books and dinosaur-themed items. “There’s a lot of toys,” one child exclaimed, smiling as they described their favorites.

Organizers say the motivation behind the event is simple. “Just take a look at the kids’ faces,” one volunteer said. “That’s why we do it. It’s a season of giving, and today is all about the children.”
