Palm Springs Police Addresses ICE Activity, Urges Residents Not to Interfere

The Palm Springs Police Department is responding to growing community concerns about recent Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the city. In a statement shared on social media, Police Chief Andy Mills said the department has spoken directly with ICE agents and emphasized that local police are not assisting with federal immigration enforcement in any capacity.

Chief Mills explained that officers are primarily concerned about vehicles left unsecured following ICE detentions and arrests, which could become targets for theft. Police are urging residents who witness ICE activity not to intervene or interfere, but instead to contact the Palm Springs Police Department so officers can secure any unattended vehicles.

According to Chief Mills, the department has asked ICE to provide advance notice when agents are operating in the city, but ICE has not done so. Palm Springs police say their role remains focused on public safety and preventing crime, not immigration enforcement.

NBC Palm Springs has reached out to ICE officials for additional information regarding the arrests but has not yet received a response. Updates will continue as more information becomes available.
