Powerball Jackpot Grows to $1.5 Billion After No Grand Prize Winner

The Powerball jackpot continues to climb after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing, increasing the estimated prize for Saturday to $1.5 billion. The massive sum now ranks as the eighth-largest lottery jackpot in United States history.

While there was no grand prize winner, eight tickets matched five of the six numbers but missed the Powerball. Two of those tickets—sold in Arizona and Massachusetts—are each worth $2 million because the players used the Power Play option, which doubles certain non-jackpot prizes for an additional $1 per play.

The remaining winning tickets were sold in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, with each ticket valued at $1 million, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association.

The winning numbers drawn Wednesday were 25, 33, 53, 62, and 66, with the Powerball number 17. The estimated jackpot for that drawing was $1.27 billion, which ranked as the 11th-largest lottery jackpot in American history.

This marked the 44th consecutive Powerball drawing without a jackpot winner—the longest stretch in the game’s history since it began in 1992. The last time a ticket matched all six numbers was on Sept. 6, when winning tickets were sold in Missouri and Texas for a $1.787 billion jackpot, the second-largest in U.S. lottery history.

This is only the second time Powerball has produced back-to-back billion-dollar jackpots. The first occurred in 2023, with a $1.08 billion jackpot won in July followed by a $1.765 billion prize claimed in October.

According to the Multi-State Lottery Association, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot by matching all five numbers plus the Powerball are 1 in 292.2 million. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
