Palm Springs Police Address Community Concerns Over ICE Enforcement Activity

Palm Springs Police are addressing community concerns following reports of increased Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity in the city over the past several days.

In a message shared on social media, local law enforcement emphasized that the Palm Springs Police Department is not assisting ICE agents with enforcement actions. Officers said they have communicated directly with ICE to make that position clear.

However, police expressed concern about vehicles being left behind after detentions and arrests. According to officials, some of those vehicles have been left unsecured, creating a risk for theft and vandalism.

Police say their priority is public safety. They have asked ICE to notify them in advance when enforcement activity is planned so officers can help secure vehicles and prevent crimes. So far, police say ICE has not provided that information.

Officials are urging residents not to intervene or interfere if they witness ICE activity. Instead, community members are encouraged to contact Palm Springs Police so officers can respond and ensure any unattended vehicles are secured.

The department also confirmed it has reached out to ICE for additional information regarding recent arrests but has not yet received a response.

Police say they will continue monitoring the situation and updating the community as more details become available. This remains a developing story, and residents are encouraged to stay with NBC Palm Springs for the latest updates as new information comes into the newsroom.
