An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up!

Today the Coachella Valley will be under sheets of fair-weather high clouds overhead along with above-normal high temperatures in the middle-70s.

Those high clouds will thicken on Monday while our midday temps return to the middle-70s.

As a disturbance moves down the coast and nears Southern California on Tuesday, rain will begin to fall over areas West of the Coachella Valley.

Significant and widespread precipitation is forecast for Christmas Eve when an upper-level low will direct an Atmospheric River of moisture over Southern California.

That's when the Coachella Valley will accumulate anywhere between one-third of an inch (East end) of rain to eight-tenths-of-an-inch (West side) of rain that day.

Rain will continue to fall to the West and East of the Valley on Christmas Day with only a few sporadic showers here.
