An NBC Palm Springs Weather Heads-Up on Monday, December 22, 2025!

Today, the Coachella Valley will be under bands of fair-weather high clouds with high temperatures in the middle-70s.

Clouds will begin to thicken on Tuesday while those midday numbers will be slow to warm-up.

You can expect a very wet Christmas Eve as a trough of low pressure directs an Atmospheric River of moisture over the Southwest.

Because of heavy rainfall and mountain runoff, a Flood Watch has been posted from Tuesday evening into Wednesday for a large area of Southern California including the Coachella Valley. Mountain thunderstorms are also a possibility.

As far as rainfall totals are concerned, the Valley could see anywhere between 0.40" to 0.80" according to the GEFS forecast model. The latest NOAA rendering estimates Valley totals from 0.70" to 1.50".

This is a warm and wet system. Snow levels begin around 9700-feet on Wednesday morning which means heavy rain at the Tram. By the time the San Jacinto freezing level falls below 8500-feet on Thursday morning, available mid-level moisture will begin to back-off. It's hard to say, but Tram snow accumulations may just total 4-inches.

Valley showers will continue into early Christmas Day.
